According to ZiMoja, following initial concerns about the lack of consultation with the Balobedu Royal family, the production of the Queen Modjadji drama series has received official approval from the Royal Council. The series, which narrates the captivating tale of Modjadji – The Rain Queen, has now been given the go-ahead to proceed with its production.

ZiMoja also reported a significant development, renowned beauty queens and former Miss South Africa winners, Shudufhadzo Musida and Ndavi Nokeri, have been announced as part of the cast. Musida, known for her advocacy work and authorship of children’s books, will make her television debut portraying the role of Muthanoni Mulalo, a wife from the VhaVenda Royal Family. Nokeri, crowned in 2022 and a Miss Universe pageant representative, expressed her excitement about portraying Muthanoni Khensani, another wife from the VaTsonga Royal Family, emphasising her passion for African stories and history.

Ngelekanyo Ramulodi, known for his previous roles in Fatal Seduction and Noughts & Crosses, will depict the young Modjadji in the series. Additionally, Masutang Rasekele, Helen Lebepe, and Thabo Bopape are set to bring pivotal characters to life, including Dzugudini, Raisibe, and Mambo Mugodo, respectively.

With the Balobedu Royal family’s approval secured and a talented cast in place, anticipation is high for the Queen Modjadji drama series to unfold the rich tapestry of African history and culture. As production progresses, audiences eagerly await the opportunity to immerse themselves in the captivating narrative of the legendary Rain Queen.
