Former Isidingo actor, Aubrey Poo, recently opened up about the intriguing journey that led to his long-awaited debut on the popular SABC1 soapie, Generations: The Legacy. After 23 years in the industry, Poo’s entry into the iconic show has been a momentous occasion. One that he attributes to a combination of fate, career contemplation, and the pursuit of excellence.

Poo’s connection with Generations: The Legacy dates back to the year 2000. When he initially auditioned for a role in the soapie. However, it was only now, over two decades later, that he secured his place as Khumo Moroka on the show. Reflecting on this journey, he confided to Sowetan. “I also had to sit back and ask myself what it meant for my career to join the show. Although it’s taken me 23 years to finally be on Generations, I feel honored to be a part of this legacy.”

Additionally, he acknowledges that joining a soapie of Generations’ magnitude comes with certain expectations. “People expect you to come with certain expertise and experience.” He explains, “and the only way one can know if they can achieve such is by throwing themselves into the process.”

Even more, Aubrey Poo’s career spans a rich tapestry of roles. They include, memorable performances in Isidingo as Gabriel Mothusi, Muvhango as Pule Mohale and many more. His diverse portfolio underscores his versatility as an actor.

Also, preparing for his forthcoming role as Khumo Moroka in Generations: The Legacy was no small feat. Poo shares that he had a mere two weeks to immerse himself in this new character. Transitioning from The Estate, which wrapped shooting at the end of June, to Generations. The Legacy on July 7th required intense preparation. In his view, effective character preparation involves extensive consultation with the show’s writers. This collaborative process allows actors to delve into the intricacies of their characters. Providing a profound understanding of the script and enabling them to bring their roles to life authentically.

Moreover, the production team at Generations expresses confidence in Poo’s ability to infuse the role with his natural charm and elegance. They anticipate his portrayal of Khumo Moroka, a character described as a scheming villain with a disarming smile and cunning guile. It will captivate audiences as he relentlessly pursues his ambitions.

Finally, as Aubrey Poo embarks on this exciting new chapter in his career. Fans of Generations: The Legacy eagerly anticipate the dynamic and engaging presence he will bring to the show, making it clear that his 23-year wait has been well worth it.
