After taking a break to focus on motherhood and healing, former Isibaya actress Asavela Mqokiyana is preparing for her big return to the entertainment world. The talented 29-year-old, who captured audiences’ hearts with her role as Ntwenhle on Isibaya, is now eager to return to the small screen, ready to entertain TV lovers once again.

In an interview with ZiMoja, Asavela opened up about the emotional journey she’s been on following her public divorce from businessman Vuyisa Mqokiyana. She explained that she’s fully healed from that chapter of her life and is coming back to the industry with a renewed sense of purpose. “The purpose I’m focusing on now is inspiring young women everywhere I can reach. I want to assist them however I can,” she said.

Despite the painful breakup, Asavela remains optimistic about love. “I still believe in love, and I would definitely get married again,” she said. She also addressed rumours surrounding her relationship with her ex-husband, clarifying that they remain on good terms. “We have a beautiful relationship. He is a good father to his children, and nothing has changed besides the fact that we are no longer together. We are both there for our kid,” she added.

Asavela also revealed that she’s ready to return to work now that her daughter is older and well cared for. “At least my child is grown and she knows me. I have someone I trust who looks after my child,” she shared.

Looking ahead, Asavela emphasised her commitment to making more thoughtful decisions about her career. “I’m committed to being more discerning in the roles I accept, particularly when it comes to portraying aggressive characters,” she said. While she doesn’t have any immediate projects lined up, Asavela is optimistic about the future. “I’m eager to take on a challenging and meaningful opportunity that aligns with my standards of excellence and personal pride,” she concluded.
