If she’s not getting married to a Sangoma from KZN or stealing someone’s man,Kelly Khumalo is apparently out there sampling people’s music without their approval!
It’s been reported that Yvonne Chaka Chaka is complaining wanting to know why Kelly Khumalo is singing Asine because according to her Asine is her song that was originally titled ‘Reya Lots’ha’ in 1997.
As we all know Asine became a huge hit after the passing of Senzo Meyiwa as the song’s lyrics translate to “I did not kill my husband”, in all honesty Kelly should just change her middle name to ‘Miss Controversial’. Asine boosted Kelly’s sales of her album ‘Back To My Roots’ and it is currently nominated for Best African Pop Album and Song at the Metro FM Music Awards 2015.
Drum Magazine reports that Yvonne Chaka Chaka claims she worked on ‘Reya Lots’ha’ which is now known as ‘Asine’ with producer Sello “Chicco” Twala for her album and now all of a sudden it’s on Kelly’s album.
“Chicco wrote this song for me while we were doing the Bombani album…” Yvonne said.
Yvonne Chaka Chaka says she would like to understand the principle that comes with changing the title of a song that is originally hers and wants to know why she wasn’t informed that it will be on Kelly Khumalo’s album.
“Nobody told me that this song would be on Kelly’s album. I called Chicco about this, but he said I must relax. He said this is not a new song and people should know it. The difference is that it now has a new title,” Yvonne tells Drum magazine.
Producer Chicco says he does not think that this is a big deal.
“I never told Yvonne because she is not the one who wrote it. The song belongs to me,”Chicco is quoted as saying.
Can you guess what Kelly Khumalo’s response was? Kelly responded by saying: “So what?”
She lives up to not caring what people have to say about her!
