Renowned media personality and radio presenter Anele Mdoda is set to host the highly anticipated DStv Content Creator Awards, taking place on Saturday, 12 October, at Nelson Mandela Square in Sandton. With years of experience in hosting major events, Anele shared her secret to success, likening her role to that of a pilot.
Speaking to Daily Sun, Anele explained, “If you think about flying a plane, the pilot is very important. But to be fair, it’s the journey itself, the in-flight entertainment, its food. It’s the cabin crew and the people you meet along the way that make the journey.” She added, “A pilot essentially delivers a story from one destination to the next – and that’s what I’m going to do at the DStv Content Creator Awards this year. I’m carrying all of these stories and all these hopes and dreams on one plane, and my job is simply to take it from A to B to Z.”
Anele likened hosting the DStv Content Creator Awards to prestigious events such as the SAFTAs, SAMAs, or even the Grammys. “One can expect my hosting to bring out all my strengths as the captain,” she said confidently.
Reflecting on how content creation has transformed over the years, Anele said, “Just 10 years ago, I had to switch on a TV to be entertained, but now I jump onto TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, or X and Mzansi would have just uploaded a piece of content that will crack me up.”
Though she doesn’t have a specific preference for the type of content she watches, she shared her love for cooking videos, saying, “I can watch cooking videos all day. I love dancing videos, I love videos with babies, and I love watching skits.”
As she prepares to take the stage, Anele promises an exciting, entertaining night, with her piloting the event from start to finish, ensuring a memorable experience for all.
