Radio host and TV personality Anele Mdoda recently celebrated her 41st birthday in the most heartwarming way — with a surprise black-and-white themed dinner planned by her bridesmaids.
Taking to Instagram, Anele shared her excitement and gratitude. “My bridesmaids threw me a birthday dinner!!! The last party that was thrown for me was when I turned 21 by my parents,” she wrote. “It’s literally the year of me just being soft. It’s a process and I thank you ladies for lifting me so high in the softest way. Love you loads ke dolls.”
The celebration was a special moment for Anele, who has openly shared how this season of her life is about softness, peace, and surrounding herself with love. She thanked her close friends — her bridesmaids — for going all out to make her birthday feel unforgettable.
Earlier in May, Anele turned 41. When a fan on X (formerly Twitter) asked how old she was, she replied simply, “As of today… 41!” She also used the month to introduce her bridal squad to her followers in a heartfelt Instagram post titled “Meet the bridesmaids.”
In the post, she described the meaningful roles each of her friends play in her life. First was her maid of honour, Neo Nontso, whom she called her “personality twin.” Anele wrote, “I know for a fact I won’t have to worry about anything. You are the literal extension of me.”
Next was Cindy Poluta, her radio partner and close friend for over 12 years. “She is loyal and one of my favourite examples of marriage and parenting,” Anele shared.
She also praised Daisy Makoni, who became a friend through their children’s friendship. “Daisy will go to war with you and for you,” she wrote. “She knows her wine… which will come in handy.”
Lifelong friend Mrs Nodada was praised as “Wife of the year for 15 years in a row.” Anele added, “Our moms were besties, and now she’s one of my shining lights.”
Musical sisters Ezile and Pilani Bubu, who’ve been in her life since 2000, were also celebrated. “To know you is to know peace,” she wrote, admiring Pilani’s creativity and Ezile’s angelic presence.
Lastly, she honoured Rose Sizani-Mungofa for being a consistent and fair friend. “We’ve never had a fall out in 17 years. A wonderful mother and a solid wife!”
