Andile Ncube Details How He Scouted Bonang To Co-Host ‘Live’ With Him. Over the years, we’ve witnessed the close and respectful relationship media personalities Andile Ncube and Bonang Matheba share and whilst most know remember them as a duo on SABC1’s LIVE, it’s never been disclosed how they met and became one of the most seasoned TV host duo of our generation.

In a recent interview with DJs Spectacular and Naves, Andile Ncube detailed the story of how Bonang became a presenter on LIVE, a show that made her a household name and won her many hearts across the country. Andile shared how he was already big as the show’s host and needed to take someone new under his wing who would become the next big thing.

“She was walking out of Urban Brew and we were shooting. I was walking in from my office going to the studio and I saw her. The image of her looking up and smiling and waving ‘hi’ and walking away never left me. Two days later I started asking everyone in that company, ‘who was that girl?’… ’till somebody said, ‘no, she was that girl coming to audition for the Lotto (show)’. I went to the guy that was producing Lotto and he said, ‘she’s too young, shes 19, we can’t have her’. And I said can I please her details, to cut a long story short, that’s how Bonang got on,” Andile detailed.

Andile shared how proud he always feels seeing Bonang doing well and being on the top. “That give me joy. People are always like ah but you know…. I don’t want credit for doing my job. My job was to find the very best thing I could find to co-anchor this show with me and I did. The accolade is in what she’s doing. That is my remuneration for it, so she needs to do better for me to even feel better,” Andile added.

Andile went on to add how Bonang has become the best of her generation. “I rate Bonang and Pabi Moloi as the best I’ve ever seen,” he said. He also hinted at writing a book tweeting, “Love speaking about her, if I ever write a book @Bonang will be a fulfilling chapter.”
