Even after his tragic passing, AKA’s family and friends continue to celebrate his life and legacy. On what would have been his 37th birthday, his loved ones shared heartfelt tributes and memories to honour the late rapper, who was tragically shot in Durban on February 10, 2023, at just 35 years old.

Moozlie, a close friend of AKA, posted a touching message on Instagram, accompanied by snippets of videos showing AKA’s family and friends celebrating him. “Happy Heavenly Birthday Pah. We all miss you SO much!! A lot of things have changed but a lot has stayed the same. You’re still The [one], The Family still loves you & through it ALL… God is still Good!! How blessed we all are to know you. You impacted us in ways we’ll never ever forget & we will love you FOREVER!! Long Live Supa Mega!!”

AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, also marked her son’s birthday with an emotional tribute. She shared a beautiful poem on social media, reflecting on the joy of his birth and the deep bond they shared. “On this day, at 1:15 in the early morning, I heard your first cry, I felt your warmth as you were placed on my chest,” she wrote. “I was yours, and you were mine. A bond unbreakable, an infinite love. I can never say ‘happy heavenly birthday,’ For your birthday is an occasion forever etched in my heart. Happy birthday, Kiernan…”

The tributes continued to pour in from AKA’s friends and colleagues. Singer Shekhinah wished him a happy birthday, while also sharing her condolences. Podcast host L-Tido took to his Instagram story, writing, “Happy birthday Kiernan, missing your energy bro! It ain’t been the same without you.” He also posted an old picture of the two of them in the studio, reminiscing about their time together. “Long live Supa Mega!” he captioned the photo.

TV presenter Anele Mdoda also paid her respects, saying, “We hold you and your family in our hearts.”

Though AKA is no longer with us, the outpouring of love and remembrance shows just how deeply he touched the lives of those around him. His legacy lives on in the memories of his family, friends, and fans.
