Even after his tragic passing, AKA’s family and friends continue to celebrate his life and legacy. On what would have been his 37th birthday, his loved ones shared heartfelt tributes and memories to honour the late rapper, who was tragically shot in Durban on February 10, 2023, at just 35 years old.

AKA’s mother, Lynn Forbes, also marked her son’s birthday with an emotional tribute. She shared a beautiful poem on social media, reflecting on the joy of his birth and the deep bond they shared. “On this day, at 1:15 in the early morning, I heard your first cry, I felt your warmth as you were placed on my chest,” she wrote. “I was yours, and you were mine. A bond unbreakable, an infinite love. I can never say ‘happy heavenly birthday,’ For your birthday is an occasion forever etched in my heart. Happy birthday, Kiernan…”
The tributes continued to pour in from AKA’s friends and colleagues. Singer Shekhinah wished him a happy birthday, while also sharing her condolences. Podcast host L-Tido took to his Instagram story, writing, “Happy birthday Kiernan, missing your energy bro! It ain’t been the same without you.” He also posted an old picture of the two of them in the studio, reminiscing about their time together. “Long live Supa Mega!” he captioned the photo.
TV presenter Anele Mdoda also paid her respects, saying, “We hold you and your family in our hearts.”
