When it comes to giving his opinion AKA has always been one to speak his mind no matter what and every time he shared his views on a situation, a number of people would shut the rapper down with only a small percentage agreeing with what he has to say.

aka baby

The biggest issue that’s currently going on in our country is university students protesting to get university fees lowered and to stop them from rising by 10.5% next year.

The main aim of the protests are to make sure that university fees are affordable for everyone that the poor don’t get excluded from receiving a quality education.

A number of celebrities have weighed in on the issue with a large percentage of them supporting the cause. AKA has come out and asked people to exclude him from the conversation because when he gives his opinion he’s mostly told that it’s an uneducated one.

Well that was until he received a call from Simphiwe Dana to join the strike and now he’s all about supporting the kids.  Check out what the rapper had to say below:

You Need My Voice Now…

You’ve spent the whole year shredding my personal life to pieces … Suddenly you “need” my voice and my opinion on fees?

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

Look To Your Leaders…

Don’t look to your celebrities for leadership. Look to your leaders.

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

I’ll Be Silent…

I believe that education is a basic human right and I support the movement, but it’s my right to exercise SILENCE for my own reasons.

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

My Opinion…

I spent years on social media being vocal on these types of issues and all people did was belittle me for having an opinion.

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

Backlashed…

When that Xenophobia shit was going down I was vocal, participated at rallies, tried to raise awareness and all I got was backlash.

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

Thanks…

So don’t come to me asking for my voice. Rather stick to your guns about me being on drugs or being a bad father etc …. Thanks.

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

Doesn’t Work Like That…

You can’t marginalize people and then call on them when it suits you.

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

Keep It That Way…

On occasions when I raised my political voice, you discarded it as an uneducated voice, a voice that simply sings songs. Keep it that way ??

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

Scratch That…

Ok, scratch what I said ….. @simphiwedana just called me. I’m joining the students. #FeesMustFall #ListenToTheKids bro …

— AKA (@akaworldwide) October 20, 2015

It’s Going Down…

I guess I have to put my own feelings aside in this instance. As much as I feel aggrieved, shit is going down and I need to be there.
