The beloved series, known for its captivating royal drama, was put on hold after Clive Morris Productions, the show’s producers, faced a financial crisis that halted production for two months.
The production company, which had not been able to pay salaries, hit a stumbling block when their key investor backed out at the last minute. Clive Morris explained to IOL that this sudden withdrawal left the company without the funds needed to complete their co-investment in the production. With the future of Queendom hanging in the balance, fans were left in the dark about when, or if, the show would return.
But on August 29, things finally turned around. According to IOL, actress Dawn Thandeka King shared an uplifting video on social media, revealing that the cast and crew had returned to set. The video showed the day’s running order, sparking excitement among viewers eagerly awaiting new episodes.
Lead actress Linda Mtoba, who portrays Ntando, expressed her excitement about the show’s return. “I’m thrilled that Queendom is coming back this September, and we’re taking the drama and intrigue to a whole new level.
