Actress Nirvana Nokwe is officially a graduate! The talented star recently completed her studies at the Academy of Sound Engineering and proudly walked the graduation stage to receive her qualification.
Nirvana shared the joyful moment on Instagram, posting a video of herself in her sash and gown and writing, “Oh I’m so happy.”
But for Nirvana, the moment was not just about the certificate — it was also deeply personal. She took a moment to honour her mentor, Mr. Timothy Kraft, who has played a key role in her journey.
“Full circle moment,” she wrote. “Mr. Timothy Kraft, your mentorship and commitment to education, empowerment and prosperity of artists in the entertainment industry can’t go unnoticed. I was a baby when I first started working with you on music in your studios at the SABC. I’m graduating at your academy today. I’ve seen you work with my family over the years with such grace and humility. I’m so, so honoured. What a moment.”
The Academy of Sound Engineering (ASE), located in Johannesburg at the SABC Radio Park, is one of South Africa’s leading institutions for audio and music production. The school offers advanced training in areas like sound engineering, music production, live sound, broadcast, and media business, with some of the best recording studios and industry-standard equipment in the country.
Nirvana’s path into the world of entertainment education wasn’t planned at first. In a previous interview on Metro FM, she explained how it all began:
“My mother was nervous that I take a gap year. So, she was like take this bursary at the Academy of Sound Engineering, and they had a department for screen, arts and television — and so I took it. I was like, I’m actually really good at this and it is something I was passionate about — directing — and so I just pursued it further.”
