Actors Left Furious After SABC1 Show Family Secrets Fails To pay Salaries For Two Months. The economy has fallen on tough times since the pandemic and many people have been affected. We have seen many people lose their livelihoods while those who are fortunate to still have a job, are struggling to get their payments on time.
That has been the unfortunate fate of the cast of SABC1 series Family Secrets. According to entertainment broadcaster Phil Mphela, the production has fallen on hard times. It is reported that the cast of the show is furious after not receiving their salaries for two consecutive months.
The production is currently in production with its second season and The South African Women In Television (SAWITA) and they have already experience their fair share of drama after lead actor Mangaliso Ngema who played the role of Caesar Mokoena left the show to attend to his court affairs. It was then reported that he would be replaced by veteran actor TV personality Nimrod Nkosi.
According to Mphela, the cast have not been paid since April for the episodes that they have shot for the second season of the show. The production sent out a letter to agencies stating that payments would be settled on June 30th for all outstanding amounts however, The Entertainment Alert was made aware yesterday that the payments had still not been made.
When reaching out to the SABC about the matter, the broadcasting giant claimed that payments were the responsibility of the production company and all payments will be made once all contracted episodes have been delivered.
As of today, the payments were made however some of the cast and crew members are said to have received only one month’s salary and the other months pay is still outstanding.
