Legendary Isidingo actor Darlington “Papa G” Michaels will be buried in his hometown of Soweto, Johannesburg, this weekend. The beloved star, known for his iconic role as Papa G, passed away at the age of 78 on Friday, September 13, at Chris Hani Baragwanath Hospital following a short illness.
His family confirmed his passing and have now shared details of his memorial and funeral services. A memorial service will be held at Soweto Theatre in Jabulani on Thursday, September 19, starting at noon. The funeral will take place on Saturday, September 21, at Uncle Tom’s Community Centre in Orlando West from 9am to 11am.
Following the service, the funeral procession will proceed to Westpark Cemetery, where Michaels will be laid to rest.
Fans and loved ones are expected to gather in large numbers to bid farewell to the actor, whose career left a lasting impact on South African television.
