A New Culture of Money Is Here: Bettr and Access Bank Partner to Back the Creator Economy! In an alliance set to unlock Africa’s youth potential and power the future of work, we’re excited to announce that we’ve partnered with the continent’s fastest growing bank, Access Bank, setting us up for (future) expansion into 12 countries on 3 continents. To make things officially official, we’ve also been awarded full regulatory approval and are on the road to public beta in March 2022.
With a world-class digital banking app, Bettr is built around Gen Z’s needs and career aspirations. We’re the first and only digital banking platform in Africa on a mission to enable creators to monetise their passions and bank their worth.
“Access Bank’s partnership with Bettr gives us a global advantage to reach Africa’s upwardly mobile youth in 12 countries and 3 continents, targeting key regions including Nigeria, Ghana, Kenya, and Rwanda,” – Natasha Archary, Senior Manager of Product and Business at Alliance Banking, Access Bank
Youth-driven, youth-centred and youth-led
Whereas traditional banks are built for linear career paths, Bettr is built for digital, exponential ones. We help creators and Gen Z bank their income from multiple online revenue streams to build credit-worthiness and create wealth by giving them access to easy savings and investments from an early age.
The Bettr app offers a transactional and a savings account with a competitive interest rate. Our digital-first card, powered by Visa, is enabled for scan-to-pay and contactless payments. There are no monthly fees and all transactions within our ecosystem are free.
Whilst essential services will launch in March 2022, our product roadmap will be co-created with you, our creator community. You’ll be empowered to innovate and build the services you want and need on the Bettr marketplace. On a weekly basis starting early next year, we’ll be releasing a preview of the Bettr app via WhatsApp and email, exclusively to our community. You’ll then get to share what you like and don’t, as well as how you think we can improve the app. Stay close to Bettr’s Instagram and Twitter feeds to learn more.
Keeping money in the community and backing our own
Creators become Bettr brand ambassadors when they sign up and invite their communities to back their growth. When signing up, followers can tip, donate, buy from, or subscribe to their creators via their Bettr @handle. Bettr’s social network payment features allow creators to bypass expensive gateways like PayPal, giving creators direct access to their followers to collect fee-free revenue instantly.
Our business model is specifically designed to create mutual wealth within our network by sharing revenue with all the members of our community. To kick off, we’ve partnered with creator and influencer marketplaces to launch to over 250 000 creators with a 20-million strong Gen Z follower base in South Africa.
We’re doing it for the culture
Behind everything we do, is our manifesto. It’s our call to action to you, to find the creator within you, and to use that inherent talent to educate, entertain and inspire others. To honour the call to create.
“Because the future has always been pushed forward by the Young and Creative. The brave ones. The ones who heard the call to create. And we will create. And there is nothing anyone can do to stop us. This world will not move forward without us.
We’re the ones who’ll dream up a different existence, and set out to make it a reality.
We’re not waiting around for it. We’re building it
We’re coming together to create it.”
“The pandemic has propelled the Creator Economy into the mainstream, powered by everyday people monetising their passions to earn a living. This will have massive implications for the job market of the future and for South Africa’s 34% youth unemployment rate,” says Bettr CEO, Tobie van Zyl.
“We will power the growing economy of young creators with the platform, tools and resources they need to thrive. All they have to do is keep creating, no matter,” he concludes.
