Sello Maake KaNcube Shares How He Feels About Jealousy In The Acting Industry. The actor, producer, director and playwright took to his socials to lament about some of the negative attitudes amongst the players in the industry.

Back in July of 2022, Sello Maake KaNcube had been snubbed at the ‘Joburg Theatre’s Walk Of Fame’ at its Jubilee Evening Of Celebration that honoured seasoned thespians and entertainers. Sibongile Khumalo, Connie Chiume, Johnny Clegg and more were just some of the big names that were honoured in the ‘Diamond Walk Of Fame’.

Sello didn’t hide his disappointment at not being included and being snubbed of the opportunity as an experienced thespian at the honorary event. Responding to an article by ‘City Press’ about what he had said regarding the snub, KaNcube tweeted, “There is nothing new here! Professional jealousy exists and it’s a disease that will eat them silently. They can’t take away my talent nor my contribution in the ARTS! When you know you are great, you have no reason to hate!”

In a string of tweets, the actor said that his career wasn’t handed to him, he had to put in the work to be where he is today. Further adding that he believed they were people in the upper echelons of the acting/entertainment industry determined to jeopardise his career and possibly being envious and as a result he was awaiting email responses from ‘Joburg Theatre’ so he could engage them in a conversation.

“I’m yet to understand what these people’s true intentions are because at this point they seem to want to put my career in a trance! No one offered me a career on a silver platter like many of them! I did the work and I’m decent at did!” he tweeted.

“It’s so sickening that these people who lounge in their air conditioned offices think they can determine what makes a good artist! Some of us are from the streets and in the streets we remain! @joburgtheatre my office awaits your response to our emails!” Sello added.

But some of tweeps don’t think that his claims were valid. With some saying that him not being included in the honorary event wasn’t personal but more to do with the standards of acting. Some added that they too believe that he too was deserving of the accolades and him not being included was out of pure jealousy.
