Twitter Divided On Whether Bonang Still Has Influence Compared To New Influencers. The comparisons between Bonang Matheba and many upcoming influencers and some current “IT” girls has always been a cause for debate and discussion on social media.
Twitter had been abuzz recently with a fiery debate of who exactly is the best influencer to come out of South Africa with the emergence of social media and how it has made some influencers big. Responding to a viral question about who is the current biggest influencer currently in South Africa, many tweeps were conflicted among Bonang Matheba, Kay Yarms and Mihlali Ndamase.
Tweeps claimed that Mihlali and Yarms were without any doubt the influencers as they are the ones that had a reputation of selling consumable products in big numbers to their target market and brands were always willing to work with them because of their appeal. Some also felt that the new girls in the ‘influencer’ industry possessed the potential to surpass Bonang.
The raging debate went on as Queen B’s fans stood up for her and hitting back at claims that she was not influential with consumable products, her adherents defended her by saying that her alcohol beverage ‘House Of BNG’ was indeed an influential brand because when the beverage was launched people flocked to stores to purchase it.
Some went further to add that her influence was immeasurable because she actually just comes up with her own business ideas and then collaborates with other brands. Unlike the aforementioned who collaborate with big, rich brands without contributing any sort of idea behind the implementation of the product’s design/production.
