“I saw an open audition advertised on instagram. I had just graduated so I thought meh let me go check this out. I have nothing better to do with day. I get to the audition venue, look around I see some really talented people who are already in the industry…I think to myself “Lol if THESE people are auditioning for this role there’s NO WAY I’m getting it so let me just save myself the trouble and go back home”. As I approach the gate to leave and catch a taxi, I stop and think to myself “shit, when my mom asks me how it went,” she shared.
She went on to share how she finally gathered enough courage to go back and audition although she didn’t have the experience required having only had theatre experience and four months later she bagged the role of a lifetime.
“Fast forward a couple months later, after 4 callbacks I get the role and I am cast as a LEAD ON THE MOST WATCHED SHOW ON DSTV! Moral of the story: DO NOT LET IMPOSTER SYNDROME CHEAT YOU OUT OF YOUR DESTINY,” she concluded.
