Seputla Sebogodi Speaks On Tribalism On Local Local TV Shows. Seputla Sebogodi is a veteran actor who has been dominating the small screens for well over a decade but the actor recently got candid about the challenges he still experiences in the film and television industry.
The actor appeared on the recent episode of the King David studio podcast where he opened up about his career, how he started his career doing theater to one of the biggest soapies in the country. Currently one of the leads on the new telenovela, Redemption were he portray the role of the captain, Seputla shared how he meditated on jazz music to get in character and became friends with a retired captain.
The actor spoke about how hard it is for non Zulu speaking actors and how hard it makes it to succeed in the South Africa TV industry. “It’s because we are not recognized, please check this ,all the soapies. This year l said no to five soapies or drama series, because you ask me ‘can you speak Zulu?‘ If you can’t speak Zulu be prepared to starve. Tell me one soapies without Zulus, I will give you one million rand. In South Africa, if you can’t speak Zulu ,you good as scrambled eggs,” he said.
He also touched on Awards ceremonies saying, “You check how many awards have been done in Durban? How many are they? Whether its gospel, in Limpopo can you count?”
