Lalela Mswane Crowned 2 Runner-up At The Miss Universe Pageant. Congratulations are in order for Miss South Africa 2021 winner Lalela Mswane who did amazing at the Miss Universe pageant. South Africa has a pretty impressive history at the Miss Universe pageant having walked away with the crown a few times. Mswane may not have gotten first place but we are proud that she made the top 3.
Social media users have been buzzing after it was announced that Lalela was crowned second runner up at the pageant and Miss India took the crown this year. The Competition which took place in Isreal was fuelled with a lot of controversial headlines regarding the apartheid regime that is being enforced by Israeli’s against the Palestinian people.
Many countries stood in solidarity with the Palestinians who were pleading for countries to boycott the pageant but Lalela together with the Miss South Africa organization fought hard for Mswane to represent the country in Israel. By doing this, Mswane lost a lot of support from the people of Mzansi including the government but that is all a thing of the past now.
Lalela has since been trending on twitter as Mzansi sings praises and congratulations to her, and the bullies who dragged her for proceeding with the pageant have all gone mum. Despite all the backlash that Mswane has been receiving leading up to her crowning, she has shown courage and determination to make her people proud even though it came at a great price.
Lalela, was crowned Miss South Africa this year in October seemed to be a fan favourite at annual local pageant and however, she lost majority of that love after people found out that the pageant was held in Israel. Mzansi did everything they could to get Mswane to show solidarity and pull out of the competition, but that didn’t stop her from following her dreams.
“Being Miss South Africa is not only an honour but also a huge responsibility and I am determined to serve our country proudly in the best way that I can. Beyond being granted a national platform during my reign to have a wider reach when tackling the economic and social issues which I have committed myself to, the title also comes with the opportunity to represent our country on an international platform along with women from all walks of life, all coming together to affect positive change in the causes they are passionate about and advocate for,” Lalela said.
After the pageant, Mswane said she was very overwhelmed to have made it into the Top 3 of the competition. The whole experience has been beyond the dancers wildest expectations and she wishes to congratulate the new Miss Universe Harnaaz Sandhu and all the other contestants who made this journey so special.
Congratulations Lalela!!
