Zakes Bantwini Pleads With The President To Give Him The Arts And Culture Ministry. The lockdown has affected the livelihoods of many and the people are looking to the government for leadership. Unfortunately the masses have ruled that the government has failed the country and its people by misusing funds and corruption. Th industry that has been devastatingly affected by the pandemic is the Arts and Culture sector.
Celebs are mostly in agreement that Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa has not had the backs of local entertainers in terms of support. The income of entertainers has been affected due to multiple restrictions that are in place and they have been calling to the government for assistance.
Zakes Bantwini is one of the celebs who have had enough with the poor leadership and is calling for change. Taking to twitter, the award winning musician appealed to the president to give him the Arts and Culture ministry. Bantwini is convinced that he would do a better job for the sector than its current successor.
Zakes revealed how the pandemic has challenged entertainers in the industry. He further called out the sector for their negligence of aiding the economy of artists during the critical time. This is a clear indicator of the ministry not caring about its people and Zakes knows that all creatives deserve better. If he would come into power, he would make sure to break the cycle for the next generation of artists.
“I want to be Minister of Art & Culture @PresidencyZA, This pandemic has been extremely challenging for our industry and it’s clear we have NO leadership that cares for creative economy of this nation. As creatives we deserve better and I want to change that for next generation” he wrote.
Other celebs including Pearl Thusi have also shared their sentiments about the affects of the pandemic on artists , requesting that the Arts And Culture Minister start taking care of artists in the financial sense like how he is fast to act when its time to offer condolences or congratulate them.
“Dear Minister @NathiMthethwaSA , I say this in the sincerest way… artists are struggling… can you assist with actual support/ money like how you tweet us congrats and condolences,” she wrote.
