2014 was a great year in the music space, we all know that! Hip Hop taking all the attention of course, the hype was around Hip Hop music not only their music game but also the beef between our two favourite musicians Cassper and AKA. We all glad that that’s over. On the brighter side all their albums have brought them success in their own ways and we definitely can’t wait to see what the music scene still has to offer us.
With all the singles that were released last year there were a lot of album releases promised left, right and centre. We’ve put together a list of albums that you should look forward to this year and the albums we think will win big at the SA Hip Hop Music Awards!
Nomuzi Mabena …
Yes you read right. According to the K.O the Skanda Queen is not just their sexy video vixen. K.O had an interview with YOMzansi and told them that this year is the year for Cashtime and that they’ll be contributing to giving Nomuzi’s Hip Hop Music rap career a kick start, we hope that the album roles out quickly right after the singles and that it’s worth every penny! Should Nadia be scared? Uhmmm…the only single we’ve received from Muzi is, Se7en and K.O told us about her career in January.
Should we be worried about CashTime delivering?
Proverb…
Yes, people Proverb still lives, he posted on Facebook that he’s working on a new album for us this year. And well he finally released the Red Tape. Let’s hope that his something new and fresh will influence the current Hip Hop music state effectively, add some value mate.
Maggz…
Always the groomsman never the groom? Maggz is also apparently cooking something up for us in the kitchen.
HHP…
The Maftown king released his album “Motswako High School” on the 31st of December, his album art is cool and creative and we hope the music on there is just as cool! Available on iTunes and stores we hope the rapper makes a great success from the album.
Ma-E…
“uGogo” so I guess there’s no hope for Teargas getting back together, no? Ma-E has been doing well appearing and featuring in a few songs and music video’s right, let’s hope he’s not a one single wonder and he gives us an album this year!
Cassper Nyovest…
Ohk, yes you already got Tsholofelo and it went Platinum. Cassper was on Channel O not so long ago and he told them that he’s year for 2015 is basically rapped up and done with it. He’s just waiting on 2016 to hit him because he’s already got over 1 000 recorded tracks, not so long ago he announced the title of his second album which be ‘Refiloe‘. Well technically with the over 1 000 tracks we should expect more than 1 album, no? The first single ‘Mamma I Made’ is already bringing all sorts of flames!
Riky Rick…
Riky Rick Boss Zonke, Boss yama Merc!! Yho, Kunini ndoda! We’ve beeeeeeeeeen waiting. With Boss Zonke, Amantombazane and Nafukwa all being great hits, Riky difinitely delivered in 2015. With that being said Riky released his album this year titled “Family Values” and people have beeeen making waves about it. We can’t wait to see how many awards he walks away with this year.
Kid X…
Staying on the Cashtime side, Kid X has been great on features and all but he was even greater on his own. With the release of “Pass ‘n Special” although I don’t get the track , apparently it was huge banger for some of yall. K.O told YOMzansi in his interview in November that we should expect an album from Kid X.
Fifi Cooper…
Named the Queen of Motswako, Fifi Cooper has really put her name out there and she’s proved that she’s here to stay. Her single Kisses has been making waves on our screens and on radio. We really hope that she has an album in store for us and not just random freestyles.
AKA…
So AKA was caught tweeting recently saying that he needs to outdo himself this year. So he has to do better than LEVELS because at the end of the day his only competition is the man in the mirror. I think he was also caught saying that he’s done with his 2015? Uhmmm maybe that includes a collab between the two that are waiting for 2016 to hit them up.
It looks like another great year for Hip Hop music this year, looking forward to The Hip Hop Music Awards already and it’s only July maaaaaayn!!!
