• Her full name is Bawinile
• Bawinile “Winnie” Modise obtained her BA Drama Honours degree at the University of Natal (Durban) in 1997
• She then joined the North West Arts Council in 1998 – 1999.
• During this time she performed in productions of Urban Reality, Messiah and Who of a Man directed by Aubrey Sekhabi and Paul Grootboom
• She moved to Johannesburg in 2000 and participated in educational and industrial theatre shows for AREPP Shoestring Productions
• In 2004 she was featured in the local television drama Jozi Streets.
• Winnie then landed herself a supporting role in the Academy Award-nominated film Yesterday.
• In the same year she appeared in three productions: Russian Services Lethal Force (supporting role), Shreds and Dreams (lead role) directed by Claire Stopford
• She also featured in a short film called Blow directed by Uwelyn.
• In 2013 she launched a soapie award ceremony called the Royalty Soapie Awards
