- Jacobs was born and raised in Pretoria and is the youngest of three children
- he studied a B.Com (Hotel and Tourism Management) for a year at the University of Pretoria
- He then went on to study drama at the Tshwane University of Technology where he received his National Diploma in 2003
- Whilst studying at TUT he performed in eighteen stage productions including Maid in the NewSouth-Africa, a production by Clive Morris.
- During 2006, he appeared in a further Lizz Meiring production, Dames en Here. The production was performed at the Aardklop Arts festival, where he was nominated for best actor
- Since November 2006 Hennie Jacobs has been performing full-time in the Danie OdendaalProduction7de Laan, as the character Diederik Greyling
- He recorded his debut CD Chilli Confessions in September 2006. He never released this album, due to scheduling conflicts as he started working at 7de Laan as a full-time actor.
- In August 2012 the record company Vonk Musiek released Jacobs’s first commercial album Velcrohart
- In November 2008 Hennie Jacobs and his fianceé Marissa Vosloo fell victim to a hijacker at a petrol station at Paulshof in northern Johannesburg. Nobody was injured.
- On Saturday, 6 December 2008, Hennie Jacobs married Marissa Vosloo in an African setting in a Shebeen-themed wedding.
