South African actress, executive producer and United Nations Goodwill Ambassador Nomzamo Mbatha has been making an impact in Cape Town as she participates in the One Young World Summit 2026.
The global leadership gathering is taking place from 3 to 6 November 2026 in Cape Town, bringing together more than 2,200 young leaders from over 190 countries. The summit provides an important platform for young changemakers to connect, exchange ideas and explore solutions to some of the world’s most pressing challenges.
Nomzamo Mbatha also returned to the summit for Day Two, continuing her participation in the global gathering in Cape Town. Her presence on the second day further highlighted her commitment to empowering young leaders and creating opportunities for the next generation through her work with the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation.
Nomzamo Mbatha was among the speakers and counsellors at this year’s gathering, taking to the global stage as a keynote speaker. She was joined by some of the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation alumni, who had the opportunity to participate in the remarkable international event and engage with young leaders from across the world.
The moment was particularly meaningful for the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation, which celebrated seeing its founder lead conversations on an international platform while its alumni participated in discussions shaping the future.
The foundation expressed its gratitude for Nomzamo Mbatha’s participation and reflected on the significance of the occasion.
“For the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation, this moment represents everything we believe in, that potential knows no boundaries, that young voices deserve to be heard, and that meaningful change begins when opportunity meets purpose.
To witness our Founder leading conversations on a global stage, while our alumni take their place in spaces where the future is being shaped, is a powerful reflection of the impact we strive to create.
Because the greatest legacy of leadership is not the spotlight we stand in, but the light we leave for others.”
Founded in 2009, One Young World is a global community dedicated to empowering ethical young leaders. Its annual summit brings together young activists, entrepreneurs, changemakers and political leaders to discuss solutions to critical global issues.
The discussions cover a wide range of topics, including climate change, peace and security, gender-based violence, human rights, health, equity and the future of employment in an increasingly technology-driven world.
For Nomzamo Mbatha and the Nomzamo Lighthouse Foundation alumni, the summit represents an opportunity to champion youth leadership, inspire meaningful conversations and contribute to building a future where young people have the opportunity to make a difference.
