South Africa has a new representative for one of the world’s biggest beauty pageants. Shannon Benting from Northcliff, Gauteng, has officially been crowned Miss Supranational South Africa 2026.
The prestigious title was awarded to Benting during a glamorous event held at Times Square in Pretoria on Saturday, 6 June. The pageant celebrates women who embody confidence, leadership, community involvement and natural beauty. It is a purpose-driven competition that aims to empower women who are passionate about making a positive impact in society.
With her new title, Benting will now have the honour of representing South Africa at the Miss Supranational 2026 pageant. The international competition is set to take place on 31 July in Nowy Sącz, Poland, where contestants from around the world will compete for the coveted crown.
The event also marked another important milestone, with the unveiling of the Miss African Beauty South Africa 2026 Top 20 finalists. From this group, the country’s representatives for Miss World 2026 and Miss Universe 2026 will eventually be selected.
Following her victory, an excited and grateful Benting shared the news with her followers on Instagram. Reflecting on the life-changing moment, she wrote:
“With a heart full of joy & hope for this journey, I am your new MISS AFRICAN BEAUTY SUPRANATIONAL
2026!!! I will be representing my country South Africa in Nowysacz, Poland!”
The newly crowned queen also opened up about what the achievement means to her. According to The Citizen, Benting described the opportunity as a dream come true.
“Representing South Africa at Miss Supranational 2026 is a moment I will carry with me for the rest of my life,” she said.
“I have worked hard, dreamed big and stayed grounded in my purpose, and this feels like confirmation that showing up with authenticity and intention truly matters.”
Beyond the excitement of wearing the crown, Benting hopes her journey will inspire young women across the country to believe in themselves and their dreams.
“I do not take this responsibility lightly. I’m walking onto that stage in Poland not just for myself, but for every young woman in South Africa who has been told that where she comes from is a limitation rather than a launching pad. I want her to see me and believe that it is possible for her too.”
