Natasha Joubert has opened up about her emotional experience after welcoming her baby girl earlier this month. The former beauty queen gave birth to her daughter on 11 March 2026 and recently shared how the first few weeks of motherhood have been both joyful and challenging.

Three weeks after giving birth, Joubert took to Instagram to speak honestly about what she went through physically and emotionally after returning home with her newborn.

She explained that the first few days felt exciting and full of energy, but things quickly changed as her hormones shifted.

She wrote: “Hormone drop post-partum The one that completely caught me off guard… The first four days at home, my adrenaline was at an all-time high. Healing didn’t feel difficult at all. I was excited, motivated, ready to do anything. And then… day 5. Joh. Joh. Joh.

My midwife did three home visits that first week and asked me every single time how I was feeling. Hahaha— now I understand why.”

Joubert said she was surprised by how many mothers related to her experience after she briefly mentioned it on her Instagram stories.

“I shared a little bit on my story, and the amount of DMs from fellow moms who have gone through the exact same thing honestly surprised me. I think you only really see this kind of information when you’re in this season… but this momma was not ready.”

She revealed that the emotional changes were intense during those days. “I cried for two days NON-STOP. (never knew so many tears could be cried. I could do my salt-sits in them, hahahaha) Enrico was so concerned.”

Joubert also spoke about the ups and downs of becoming a parent and the fears she had because of her mental health history.

“And then you get a few good days… even great days… and then the days where you sit there wondering, how did we ever think we were ready to be parents?

I have a history of depression, I still see my psychologist actively, since 2021 and I am scared of postpartum depression, losing who I am and finding the new normal. I know the old version of myself will never be there again, but would love to keep parts of her.”

The former Miss South Africa encouraged people to be kinder and more understanding toward new mothers.

“Be kind, gentle to pregnant women, to mothers postpartum- it’s the most vulnerable, fragile and sacred time. The beauty of becoming parents-the hardest thing, yet the most rewarding.”

Joubert said she decided to share her story to help normalise postpartum emotions and remind other mothers that they are not alone.

“I’m sharing this to help normalise postpartum. Speaking to a few people close to me made me realise, we’re all going through it, just not always out loud. What you see on my feed is real… but it’s not the full reality. And I know a post like this would have made me feel less alone. Like, okay cool… it’s not just me?”

Despite the emotional moments, Joubert said she is feeling better now and continues to embrace the journey of motherhood.

“The tears have been there the past few days… but so has the joy. We’re still figuring it out. And wow… I finally understand why they say moms are superheroes. This post isn’t for pity! Promise I’m feeling great now! But wanted to share for any other momma going to experience this or are going through it!”
