Nadia Nakai has opened up about the future of her growing makeup brand, Naked Without, and her dreams of expanding it across Africa and beyond.
During the month of love in February, Nadia hosted a special Galentine’s celebration focused on beauty, confidence, and connection. The event featured a beauty masterclass where many women came together to celebrate and support the rapper’s beauty brand. It was also a chance for Nadia to connect with fans and share more about the vision behind her makeup line.
Nadia launched Naked Without in December 2023, and the brand has already started making its mark in the beauty space. While the products are currently sold online, customers can also visit the brand’s kiosk at Mall of Africa. At the kiosk, customers can get help finding the perfect foundation shade or even get a quick facebeat if they are heading to an event.
Speaking to True Love Magazine, Nadia shared that she created the brand with South African women in mind.
“What excited me about launching the brand is that South African women, in my opinion, have really great skin,” she explained. “I knew I wanted something that wasn’t ‘too much’. Even our foundation is full coverage but still feels light.”
She added that the brand is designed for women who want simple and easy makeup products. For example, the blush comes with an easy applicator, making it perfect for people who prefer a quick and natural look.
Interestingly, Nadia admitted that she was not always into makeup when she was younger. She said she only started wearing it more often because of her career in the entertainment industry. At one point, she even went viral after people saw photos of her without makeup.
“I realised then that for someone like me who wants to go outside when I’m not working, I need products that don’t require much skill, because I’m not a makeup artist,” she said.
When it comes to her personal makeup style, Nadia says she prefers soft glam over full glam. Even when makeup artists work on her look, she asks them to keep it natural so her features still stand out.
Looking ahead, the rapper has big plans for Naked Without. In the next two years, she hopes to open a standalone store that will operate more like a beauty salon where customers can come for a full beauty experience.
Within five years, Nadia dreams of expanding the brand even further. She hopes to see Naked Without in malls across different countries and even launch flagship stores in Zimbabwe, Botswana, Namibia, and London.
For anyone who has not tried the brand yet, Nadia recommends starting with the foundation and lip glosses. According to her, the lip glosses smell amazing and have quickly become fan favourites.
With strong support from fans and a clear vision for the future, Naked Without seems set to grow into one of the exciting beauty brands to watch.
