For Doja Cat, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, this visit is more than just another international show. The artist has often spoken proudly about her South African roots, and this performance holds deep personal meaning for her.

“From my South African roots straight to the world stage, we’re bringing energy, purpose, and real change to Move Afrika in Kigali and Pretoria. This isn’t just a tour, it’s a movement that creates jobs and opportunities that last,” said Doja Cat. “I’m proud to be part of something that celebrates Africa’s creativity, invests in its future, and shows the world that Africa isn’t coming, it’s already here.”

In a video shared on her Instagram, she also expressed her excitement directly to her fans. She said, “I am so excited to announce that I am finally going to South Africa and meeting my fans in Rawanda. I’m working with Global Citizen’s Move Afrika. This isn’t just an opportunity to tour and play music it’s going to help people find jobs and create opportunities that last. So I’m very, very happy to be part of something that is more than just my music.”

Move Afrika is not just about hosting concerts. The initiative was launched in partnership with pgLang and rapper Kendrick Lamar. According to reports by The Citizen, the goal is to build Africa’s first fully scaled international touring circuit. The project also aims to create sustainable jobs in areas such as production, staging, security, and hospitality.
