Londie London has issued a public apology to Christall Kay following backlash from viewers of The Real Housewives Ultimate Girls Trip: Africa. The apology comes after episode nine of the Showmax series, which aired on Friday, 23 January, sparked heated conversations on social media.

The drama began after a phone call between Londie London and Annie Mthembu was shown on the show. During the call, Londie made a comment about Christall Kay’s lazy eye, while Annie laughed. Many viewers felt the comment was hurtful and inappropriate, especially given the ongoing discussions around bullying on the franchise.

The situation quickly gained attention online, with South Africans taking to social media to share their disappointment. Many people pointed out that Londie had previously received public support when she was allegedly bullied by Minnie Ntuli on The Real Housewives of Durban. As a result, viewers felt let down by her comments about Christall

After the episode aired, people took to Twitter (now X) to share their reactions. Some of the comments included:

@People_suckfr wrote, “I’m glad yall saw that Annie, Londie and Angel are mean girls without Nonku being in the picture.”

@Sakhilenavy21 said, “For Londie to be well under Showmax comment section taking up for Christall against the ladies bullying she forgot she was on camera with Annie on the phone making fun of Christal’s lazy eye with Annie who is laughing like as if her eye doesn’t fall flat.”

@BlessDinakedi commented, “We stood ten toes behind her when she was being bullied then she has the nerve to say that about Christall?”

@chuma_maqina added, “This is why I didn’t like Londie London on her first season of #RHOD. She’s a mean girl who hides behind humour…”

As the backlash grew, Londie London responded with a public apology that Christall Kay shared on her own social media. In the screenshot of Londie’s comment, she wrote:

“Guys!!! It was a bad comment that was supposed to be a joke… it didn’t land well… and I did say I honestly love Christel. Let’s focus on the positive guys. I was not even in Rio. I Am NOT A BULLY & I know how harmful bullying can be, and I would never encourage or enforce it.”

Londie’s apology shows that she recognised the hurt her words caused and wanted to make it clear she did not mean to offend Christall. By sharing the apology publicly, Christall may be signalling that she accepts it.
