Renowned DJ Ashley “Shimza” Raphala has once again shown his commitment to giving back to the community. Through the Shimuzic Foundation, the award-winning DJ has donated 3 000 pairs of school shoes to underprivileged pupils as part of his annual Hopeful Soles school shoe drive initiative.

The donation aims to help learners who come from disadvantaged backgrounds and often struggle to access basic school necessities. Proper school shoes may seem like a small thing, but for many pupils, they play an important role in ensuring comfort, confidence and dignity at school. By providing school shoes, Shimza and his foundation are helping to create a better learning environment for children who need it most.

According to Shimza, the 2025 donation marks a significant growth compared to last year’s initiative. He revealed that the number of shoes donated this year increased by 1 000 pairs. In 2024, the foundation distributed 2 000 pairs of school shoes across the City of Ekurhuleni in Gauteng. This year, the total has grown to 3 000, showing the continued success and support behind the initiative.

Sharing his gratitude and excitement, Shimza took to social media to thank everyone who contributed to the cause. In a post on Instagram, he said:

“It’s that time of the year again. Thank you for your support in everything I do. Together, we’re contributing towards education and a brighter future in our communities.”

He also highlighted the progress made by the foundation over the past year, adding: “This year we were able to donate 3 000 school shoes, a growth from last year’s 2 000.”

The Hopeful Soles initiative has become an important annual project for the Shimuzic Foundation. It focuses on supporting education by addressing one of the practical challenges faced by learners from low-income families. Many children attend school without proper footwear, which can affect their health, confidence and overall school experience. By donating school shoes, the foundation helps ease this burden and allows pupils to focus on their studies.

Shimza has often used his platform to make a positive impact beyond music. Known for his successful DJ career and international performances, he continues to invest in community upliftment projects that bring real change. His work through the Shimuzic Foundation reflects his belief in giving back and supporting the next generation.

As the Hopeful Soles initiative continues to grow, Shimza’s contribution serves as a reminder of how small acts of kindness can make a big difference in the lives of young learners and help shape a brighter future.
