Mzansi Magic has officially announced that its hit telenovela, Inimba, will be returning for a second season. The news comes after the show’s outstanding first season, which quickly became one of the most talked-about productions in South Africa. Since its premiere in April 2025, Inimba has consistently topped social media trends, with fans rushing online after every episode to share their reactions and theories.
The show’s remarkable success even led to the extension of season 1 by an impressive 90 episodes. Viewers were hooked from the start, and the excitement only grew stronger as the storyline unfolded. This massive support didn’t go unnoticed, as Inimba earned recognition at the 2025 National Film and Television Awards (NFTA). The award for Best Actress in a Television Drama went to Zenande Mfenyana for her outstanding portrayal of Thumeka, a role that quickly became a fan favourite.
Zenande’s win also highlights the strength of the entire cast. The ensemble includes Lunathi Mampofu, who plays the powerful and emotional Zoleka Bikitsha, and Sisanda Hewana, who stars as Hlathi Mabandla—the man whose dramatic line “KukwaMabandla apha!” became one of the season’s most iconic phrases. Alongside them are Loyiso MacDonald (Lazarus), Ayakha Ntunjwa (Qhawe), Siyabonga Shibe (Sydney), and many more talented Mzansi actors. Their dedication ensured that Inimba delivered gripping entertainment week after week.
Mzansi Magic’s Director of Local Entertainment Channels, Shirley Adonisi, expressed her joy over the show’s renewal. She said: “Inimba has really taken the 21:00 weekly slot by storm as a story that resonates deeply with our viewers because of its focus on the expectations balancing ambition with tradition and complexities of family relationships. The overwhelming response from viewers shows just how much the story resonates and we are thrilled to bring them more.”
According to Mzansi Magic, season 1 gave fans everything—from dramatic returns to heart-stopping confrontations. One of the biggest shocks was Zoleka’s return after 20 years, a storyline that sent social media into a frenzy. Viewers also loved the fiery clashes within the Mabandla family, Zoleka and Lazarus’s love story (affectionately called LaZo online), and of course, the emotional one-hour wedding special that kept everyone glued to their screens.
With all this excitement, fans can expect even more drama in season 2. The upcoming season promises higher stakes, new characters, and plot twists that will keep viewers talking well into 2026.
For now, Inimba season 1 continues to air on weekdays at 21:00 on Mzansi Magic, DStv Channel 161, giving fans a chance to relive all the moments that made it one of the biggest shows of the year.
