Judith Sephuma Welcomes a Season of Renewal with Her New Album When Winter Fades

South Africa’s beloved Queen of Afro Jazz, Judith Sephuma, is back and ready to warm hearts this spring with her brand-new studio album, When Winter Fades. The 8-track Afro Jazz gem — recorded live with her full band — drops on Friday, 31 October 2025, across all digital platforms, alongside the release of its moving title track.

This marks Judith’s first studio album in five years since her acclaimed 2019 project, Power of Dreams. Produced by Job Thako and mixed and mastered at Audio Mix, When Winter Fades is an intimate, soul-soothing journey that reflects the warmth, honesty, and musical depth that have defined Judith’s extraordinary career.

Earlier this month, Judith gave fans a taste of what’s to come with her lead single “Back To Love”, released on 3 October. The heartfelt track has already become a radio favourite.

“Choosing a lead single was so hard because every song means something to me,” Judith says. “But Back To Love takes me to the heart of why I make music — love. It’s always been at the centre of everything I do.”

The album also features standout tracks like “Mokete,” a joyful celebration of unity and life’s special moments; “Call My Name,” a soulful ballad that blossoms into an emotional sing-along; and “Makeba,” a touching tribute to Mama Miriam Makeba — one of Judith’s greatest inspirations, alongside Letta Mbulu and Sibongile Khumalo.

Speaking about the album’s theme, Judith shares,
