Award-winning singer Kelly Khumalo has announced the cancellation of her much-anticipated 20th-anniversary celebration, which was set to take place on 15 November 2025 at the Meropa Outdoor Arena in Polokwane.
The event was meant to mark two decades of Kelly’s remarkable journey in the music industry, celebrating her growth as one of South Africa’s most powerful voices. However, her team released a statement on Saturday confirming that the show will no longer go ahead as planned.
“We regret to announce the cancellation of Kelly Khumalo’s 20th anniversary event. We fully understand the disappointment this decision may cause, and we extend our sincerest apologies for any inconvenience it may create. Refunds will be processed for all ticket holders, and we will provide updates regarding potential rescheduling of the event in the future,” the statement read.
According to her team, all ticket holders will receive refunds, and updates will be shared if the event is rescheduled at a later date.
Kelly also personally addressed her fans, expressing her regret and commitment to ensuring the event eventually happens under better circumstances.
In her social media post, she wrote, “My sincere apologies, tough decisions had to made so this can be done right.”
While fans may be disappointed by the cancellation, there’s still reason to celebrate. Kelly is preparing to release her 11th studio album, titled Rebirth, later this month.
Speaking about reaching this milestone, she said, “To me, marking 20 years means carrying on with the work I’ve always done. I’m not quite sure how I feel about reaching this milestone yet.”
The Rebirth album follows her earlier release, Nyamezela, a powerful and uplifting single about endurance and hope. The song set the tone for what promises to be one of Kelly’s most inspiring musical eras yet.
Originally, the 20th Anniversary Tour was set to take place across three provinces — Limpopo, Gauteng, and KwaZulu-Natal — celebrating Kelly’s incredible two-decade journey in the industry.
From Afro-soul to gospel and contemporary African music, Kelly Khumalo has cemented her place as a living legend. Though her 20th-anniversary celebration has been paused, her legacy continues to shine, stronger and more meaningful than ever.
