South African rapper and businessman, Cassper Nyovest, recently found himself frustrated and disappointed after a bad experience with Uber Eats. The award-winning star took to social media on Monday, 22 September, to share how an Uber Eats driver allegedly stole a valuable birthday gift he had sent to a friend.
According to Cassper, he had arranged for the delivery through Uber’s courier service, but instead of delivering the package, the driver, identified as Dymon, claimed to have returned the gift back to him. Furious about the incident, Cassper shared a lengthy rant on his X (formerly Twitter) account, where he also posted screenshots of his attempts to get help from Uber via email.

The rapper didn’t hold back in expressing his anger: “@Uber_RSA @UberEats Uber has become such complete rubbish !!!! Yesterday I tried to send a gift to one of my friends through Uber courier and the driver decided to steal the gift and report that he returned to me!!! The name of the driver is Dymon and it’s been over 24 hours since I tried sending them e mails!! Such an expensive gift, ruined my day and ruined the gesture for my friend cause he was so excited!!! I never use Uber courier again!!!! This happens after they have stolen food sooo many times !!! Such rubbish!!!!”
Cassper’s post quickly gained attention, with many social media users agreeing with his frustrations and sharing similar experiences.
One user, @kaMalambule, said: “Uber doesn’t care much when these guys do this. Once a chap tried this and the next day he found me waiting for him outside his house. The shock in his face was outstanding. They apologise very quickly. Never allow these bad apples to try make you a poes..”
Another user, @lorrenzom, added: “They do this all the time and most of them don’t even use their real names. Uber doesn’t even have a customer care line because they are avoiding accountability. They use chatbots which can’t even address the issues raised. We need to bring them to book or else this will never stop.”
A third user, @JOrdanduToit, commented: “This is what happens when you use a E-Hailing company for courier. They have no accountability and no experience handling valuables. And this goes for other businesses too cough cough Vodacom selling fashion on their app. Stick to what you are supposed to do companies of SA.”
Cassper’s frustration reflects a growing dissatisfaction among customers who feel Uber Eats isn’t taking accountability when things go wrong. For now, it seems the rapper has sworn off using the service entirely after the ruined surprise for his friend.
