Actress, producer, and filmmaker Connie Ferguson is remembering her late husband, Shona Ferguson, four years after his passing. Shona died in July 2021 due to COVID-19-related complications at the age of 47. His death shocked South Africa, as he was a well-loved actor, producer, and co-founder of Ferguson Films alongside Connie.
On the 4th anniversary of his passing, Connie shared a sweet and emotional message along with a video of the two of them during a light-hearted moment. She wrote,
“The way he used to harass me! Miss you annoying me Dawg! Thinking about you and missing you is just part of me now, and I’m okay with it. You are UNFORGETTABLE! You are in me, and I LOVE YOU FOREVER. Long live my KING!”
Shona’s memory lives on not just through his work but also through his family, who continue to honour him with touching tributes.
Connie’s daughter, Lesedi Matsunyane-Ferguson, also remembered her late father with heartfelt words. She posted,
“Saying I miss you sounds insufficient. Articulating my grief sounds redundant. So many moments missed and so much guidance needed. I hope you can feel my heart and that you know I’m trying. We need you, but we’re trying.”
Their youngest daughter, Alicia Ferguson, also poured her heart out in a tribute, saying,
“As much as today marks 4 years since your departure, it feels like yesterday. There’s never a day where I don’t think about you fah. I love and miss you with all of my heart, and pray that you’ll continue resting in peace fah.”
Earlier this year in April, Connie also celebrated what would have been Shona’s 51st birthday. She shared a smiling photo of him and wrote,
“My KING would have been 51 today! Happy Heavenly Birthday MY SKAT. Conversations about you always end up in laughter! You gave us such a good happy life! Thank you for the beautiful memories! They’ve really kept us going even in the most challenging circumstances. I LOVE YOU FOR ETERNITY!”
Through their touching words and memories, the Ferguson family continues to keep Shona’s legacy and spirit alive.
