Khanyi Mbau is living her best life and making history while doing it! The media star recently took a 16-hour flight to Los Angeles to attend the Netflix Reality Universe Superlatives, a global event that honours Netflix’s biggest reality TV stars.
Khanyi gave fans a front-row seat to her exciting trip by posting updates on her Instagram Stories. From boarding the plane to showing moments during the long flight, she shared her journey to the glamorous city of Los Angeles, where the awards will take place.
This trip is extra special because Khanyi is not just attending—she’s also nominated for an award! She’s the first African to ever be nominated at the event and is in the running for the Main Character Energy award for her role in the hit reality series Young, Famous & African.
Sharing her excitement online, Khanyi posted: “So excited to be nominated as the first African for the Netflix Superlative vote for: Main Character Energy…”
“What does giving the main character energy mean? Taking a lead role in your own life rather than living as a supporting cast member for others.”
The voting closed on 15 July, and winners will be announced at the Netflix Summer Break event on 17 July.
Khanyi is competing with global stars like Harry Jowsey (Too Hot to Handle), Jess Vestal (Love Is Blind), and Ryan Serhant (Owning Manhattan). But win or not, she’s already made her mark by representing Africa on one of the biggest international stages.
