Grammy-winning singer Nomcebo Zikode has just welcomed a new addition to her family — a baby boy! The Jerusalema hitmaker is overjoyed and fully focused on her growing family, which includes her two older children and her husband.

“I am so happy. It’s as if this is my first child whatsoever, my first baby,” Nomcebo shared with TRUELOVE magazine, expressing her deep joy over her newborn son.

Nomcebo is well-known not only in South Africa but around the world for her powerful voice and emotional performances. Her vocals on Bayethe, a song with Zakes Bantwini and Wouter Kellerman, won a Grammy Award in 2023. But despite her international fame, Nomcebo is choosing to slow down and focus on what matters most—her family, peace of mind, and her personal wellbeing.

The singer opened up about how she keeps herself grounded, especially during difficult times. “I am a praying woman, I pray a lot. Not really a lot, but I do take God very seriously. I know that in everything, I need to put God first,” she said. She also takes care of her physical and mental health by staying active. “I do go to the gym because I understand that exercising will help me with so many things, like health-wise, also, with my mind.”

Balancing a successful music career and family life is not easy, but Nomcebo makes the effort to stay close to her loved ones. “I always try by all means to have time with my family, even though sometimes I’m just forced to be outside the country for the longest time,” she says. “But whenever I’m at home, I’ll try by all means to maybe cook for them. Even though we do go out, I think it’s more beautiful when maybe I’m together with them in the kitchen, I’m cooking for them.”

The iZono Zami singer has faced some tough times recently, including a public legal battle with Open Mic Productions over unpaid royalties for Jerusalema. Despite the stress, she has chosen to protect her peace and that of her family.

“Now that I’m in the industry, I’ve noticed that sometimes you put things out there because you are trying to be genuine. But sometimes people will use that against you one day,” she explains. “So, I don’t know whether I should say I’m private about it… but I just chose that, let me just keep it for myself, this is for me.”

Though she’s enjoying her time with her newborn, Nomcebo hasn’t turned her back on music. She still plans to release new songs, though she hints that there are “a few things” she needs to sort out first. While she remains quiet on future collaborations, she promises that her next work will be “from the heart.”
