Popular Amapiano DJ and global sensation, Uncle Waffles, has spoken out following a wave of online backlash linking her to exploitation claims made by fellow artist PCee.
It all began when PCee went live on Instagram, sharing his frustrations about being exploited in the music industry. He revealed that he had worked on several hit songs with an unnamed artist but claimed he was never credited or paid for his contributions. Although he didn’t name anyone, social media users quickly started speculating and pointed fingers at Uncle Waffles.
This led to heavy criticism directed at the “Yahyuppiah” hitmaker throughout the week. On April 18, Uncle Waffles finally addressed the claims and responded to a video posted by TikTok content creator @_6uhle, who commented on PCee’s allegations and how Uncle Waffles was being accused.
In the comments section, Uncle Waffles set the record straight: “What’s crazy about all of this is 1. PCee is signed to a record label everyone knows. 2. He has an international distributor. 3. He has the means to reinvest in his brands the exact same way I do.”
She continued: “I am an independent artist, all I do is from what I make. I solely reinvest in my brand. My team taught me music business. I pay for everything. Just dumb f***s who can’t handle that I’m going to ALWAYS BE HERE. And exist at the top as a woman, whether they like it or not.”
Uncle Waffles also brought up a previous situation involving OPH Sage in early 2024, where she felt she was wrongly targeted.
“I let y’all play me with Sage (OPH Sage) and not do s**t to his manager who sits on podcasts all day but isn’t putting his artist on. I’m not letting this slide again. He even had the audacity to speak on this matter like he wasn’t there as we were paying for EVERY SINGLE THING.”
According to IOL, to further clear her name, a leaked phone call between Uncle Waffles and PCee surfaced on social media. In the call, she directly asked PCee who he was referring to in his Instagram rant. His response cleared the air: “I’m talking about JazziQ and TxC.”
He added: “Look Waffla, if I had a problem straight with you, strictly you, I was gonna tell you. If I wasn’t gonna reach you, I was going to tell Kai (Uncle Waffle’s manager), hence I told Kai that I am not talking about Waffles.”
Uncle Waffles made it clear she won’t stay silent when false narratives are pushed. As a woman thriving independently in a male-dominated industry, she’s ready to defend her name and keep rising.
