Actor Wiseman Mncube has issued a public apology after facing backlash for his comments about Big Brother Mzansi Season 5 contestant Ashley Ogle.
According to TshisaLIVE, the My Brother’s Keeper star referred to Ashley as icoloured in a social media post, which many users found offensive and labeled as racist. His post read:
“Kanti icoloured la Guluva lihlala eWentworth hehehe imashile. Muvoteleni abaleke ngezinyawo zombili cause that stakkie’s from the Gaali!”
(Translation: Guluva’s coloured stays in Wentworth, it’s hectic; vote for him so he runs away with both his legs because of that girl).
Following the public outcry, Wiseman took accountability for his words and issued an apology, acknowledging the harm caused. He wrote on social media platform X:
“Kuthiwa eyonile uma ilibona iphutha iyaxolisa.” (Translation: The one who sees his fault should apologise).
In his full apology, he expressed deep regret for his remarks:
“Hi everyone, I would like to sincerely apologise to Ashley, her fans, and anyone else I may have hurt with my words. What I meant as a joke was thoughtless and, in hindsight, inappropriate. I take full responsibility for my actions and the harm they may have caused. I now realise the weight of my words and the impact they can have, and I am committed to being more mindful in the future. I will take this as a learning moment and do better. I am truly sorry. Love, Wiseman Mncube.”
Wiseman’s apology received mixed reactions online, with some social media users appreciating his willingness to admit his mistake, while others felt the damage had already been done.
