South African music sensation Tyla brought her signature style and star power to the launch of Mercedes-Benz’s new CLA model on Thursday evening. The exclusive event, attended by A-list celebrities like Will.i.am, Ice Spice, and Romeo Beckham, featured an electrifying performance from the Grammy-winning singer.
Stepping onto the stage in a striking red fringe dress that matched one of the newly unveiled luxury cars, Tyla kicked off her set with a stripped-down version of Water. The chart-topping hit, which reached number seven on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, made history when it won the first-ever Grammy for Best African Music Performance in 2024.
After captivating the audience with Water, Tyla turned up the energy with her song Jump, this time joined by a crew of dancers, all dressed in coordinated red outfits. The entire performance felt like a celebration, perfectly in tune with the glamour and excitement of the night.
Beyond the music, the event also introduced the Class of Creators—a collaboration where select artists and influencers, including the evening’s special guests, will create content inspired by the all-new CLA model. Each partnership will merge the essence of Mercedes-Benz with the creative DNA of the artists, resulting in unique vehicle art pieces to be revealed throughout the year.
Tyla has also been making waves in the fashion world. At the recent Chanel Paris Fashion Week show, she turned heads in a pink tweed mini skirt, drawing comparisons to a similar look worn by Naomi Campbell in the brand’s Spring-Summer 1994 collection.
“I wanted to feel like a classic rich Chanel girl,” she told Vogue about her show-stopping outfit.
The singer revealed that her style is constantly evolving, blending high fashion with streetwear influences. Recently, however, she has been particularly drawn to Chanel, with her latest purchase being a rare and coveted piece from the brand.
“My Chanel ankle monitor bag,” she shared, referring to a statement accessory from the label’s Spring 2008 collection.
