Radio host and entrepreneur DJ Sbu has made a surprising announcement: he’s back with Radio 2000 for another year. Just days after sharing that he would be leaving the station, DJ Sbu revealed on his social media that he has agreed to stay on for another 12 months. He said, “I am pleased to let you know that I will be staying with @radio2000_za, having concluded an agreement for another 12 months. Keep your ears tuned in to the big breakfast, weekdays 6-9am.”
This sudden change comes after DJ Sbu made a heartfelt resignation statement to his listeners just last week. He explained that after much thought, he had decided to step down from his role as the morning radio host at Radio 2000, even though his contract was originally set to end in March 2025. In his resignation letter, DJ Sbu thanked his colleagues, management, and, most importantly, the loyal listeners for their support.
The radio host reflected on his time at the station with gratitude, saying, “This decision has not been an easy one, as my time at Radio 2000 has been filled with invaluable experiences, cherished memories, and the joy of connecting with our wonderful audience.” He expressed excitement for the next chapter of his career, which would involve launching a new breakfast morning show on a different platform starting April 1, 2025. DJ Sbu shared his eagerness for the fresh opportunities ahead, but also made sure to thank everyone who supported him along the way.
“I want to extend my heartfelt gratitude to everyone who has been a part of this incredible journey. Your encouragement and engagement have meant the world to me, and I look forward to staying connected with you in my future endeavors,” DJ Sbu wrote.
However, just days after announcing his resignation, DJ Sbu made the unexpected decision to stay on at Radio 2000 for another year. Fans can now look forward to hearing his voice on the airwaves every weekday morning from 6 to 9 a.m. for at least another year.
