Actors Nicholas “Nick Soul” Nkuna and Gabisile Tshabalala are the latest stars to join the Muvhango family, bringing fresh talent and excitement to the beloved South African soapie. Nicholas, known for his work on 7de Laan, will make his debut on Muvhango on January 24, while Gabisile, who will take on the role of Bubbles Mosipidi, is set to appear on January 21.
Nicholas Nkuna, an actor and singer, will portray Khalema Semenya, a streetwise character with a mysterious past. Khalema is Dr. Ximba’s cousin and Sakhile’s uncle, but his ties to the family are complicated. Having spent years in the army, Khalema was discharged under unclear circumstances, adding to the intrigue surrounding his character. According to TshisaLIVE, Nicholas expressed his excitement about joining Muvhango, saying, “I’ll be playing a bold, fearless and unapologetic character who lives entirely for himself. Khalema is unpredictable and shocking and commands attention with every move. He challenges me as an actor in the most exhilarating way.”
Nicholas further explained the complexity of his role: “He’s ridiculous, insane and completely un-understandable, yet he makes bold choices that demand confidence and a deep understanding of his complexity. The role allows me to stretch my acting muscles and reminds me why I joined this industry — to play, to take risks and to tell unforgettable stories.”
Gabisile Tshabalala, known for her vibrant acting, will take over the role of Bubbles Mosipidi, a receptionist at Hanyani Holdings. Her debut comes with high expectations, but she is confident in her ability to integrate seamlessly into the Muvhango family. “I have joined a warm family that filled my heart in a way I did not think I needed,” Gabisile shared. “I feel like I am working in a team who love one another. I have never joined a company that does actor workshops and team building for cast and crew. What Bab Duma Ndlovu is doing is commendable.”
Taking over a well-known character like Bubbles can be challenging, especially when stepping into a role held by someone else. However, Gabisile felt an immediate connection with the cast and crew, making the transition easier. “I am replacing an existing character known as Bubbles. Usually that’s a very tricky transition when you find people who have been working together for a long time. In my case, I clicked right in and felt at home,” she said.
