Influencer and DJ Cyan Boujee has bravely shared her experience of being physically assaulted by her boyfriend in a recent YouTube video. The emotional footage shows Cyan revealing bruises on her back and a swollen eye, as she explains the horrifying details of the attack that left her needing to spend a night in the hospital. Despite the trauma, she found support during the difficult time.
Cyan explained how the assault unfolded, describing how her boyfriend waited for everyone to leave before launching the attack. “We practised the whole day. He waited for everyone to leave. Little did I know that even when you choose yourself, you’ll be in danger. I thought I was going to die,” she said.
In the video, Cyan offered powerful advice to anyone in a similar situation, saying, “If you see one red flag, run. Don’t think a person will get better. Nobody gets better, they get worse.”
She also spoke about her boyfriend’s behavior during the assault, speculating that his state of mind may have been influenced by alcohol or drugs. “I think he was in a different state in his mind at that time. I don’t know if I can blame alcohol or drugs. He’s just a weird vampire who should stay in a cell,” Cyan explained.
The DJ went on to describe the frightening moments when the abuse began. “I was in my sleep, and he was sleepless. He came to my house. He waited for everyone to leave the house, and immediately after I fell asleep, he just came in and started fighting and beating me up,” she said, visibly upset as she recounted the event.
Cyan also shared how her boyfriend had made threats before the assault, stating, “At some point in the relationship, when [my team] posted Maphorisa and me, he said that if he ever found out I was with a guy, he would destroy me. He actually said it two days before he hit me.” She described how he attacked her, “He beat me, and he was just biting me all over. And he kept calling the guy’s name while he was beating me up.”
She tearfully added, “I was screaming for help, I couldn’t breathe.”
Cyan’s followers were quick to express their sympathy and offer words of support. Many shared their heartfelt messages, with one person writing, “I am so sorry about what you went through. Yazi, you’re such a lover girl and you deserve so much more. I pray for your safety and healing.”
Another follower sent comforting words, saying, “Girl, lol, I was so emotional and teary until you said he was so broken, ‘broken and broke’. You are sooo funny. We love you over here. May the presence of God be with you all the time, sending hugs.”
One more follower shared a thoughtful message of encouragement: “I hope that this whole thing doesn’t change your perspective on love. You really deserve gentle love that will make you feel safe and secure.”
