Since her breakout role as Nkanyezi in Showmax’s hit series Adulting, 27-year-old actress Londeka Sishi has quickly become a familiar face in South Africa’s entertainment industry. Her role as Bonga’s love interest in Adulting, played by Thembinkosi Mthembu, has opened doors to exciting new roles in shows like Scandal! and Code 13.
Talking to TRUELOVE, Londeka offered an exciting hint about what fans can expect in Adulting’s upcoming season: “It’s very personal for all of us because we really are undressed, we’re completely undone. We’re really diving into each of the characters’ world to find out who they are and how they got to where they are. So, it’s going to be very, very personal for even the viewers who have connected to each of the characters, just to get a little bit of backstory … I think this season, there’s so much depth and story. Like jaw-clenching, gut-wrenching, exhilarating story.”
Originally from Durban, Londeka grew up captivated by her great-grandmother’s folktales and had a deep-rooted passion for theater. However, raised in a strict household and dealing with middle-child syndrome, she initially set her acting dreams aside to focus on a corporate career. A lucky casting call changed everything, and soon, she was cast in Adulting—a role that would alter her life.
On Scandal!, Londeka now plays Busisiwe, a character with an obsessive edge, working alongside her close friend Kwenzo Ngcobo. Speaking about their on-screen dynamic, she says, “It made the chemistry a lot easier because [there were] a lot of also hard scenes between the two of us. But I think that just the friendship made it so seamless even on screen. So, that was fun. That was truly, truly fun.”
Her rising fame has been a whirlwind, but Londeka credits her grounding values and spiritual beliefs for keeping her humble. Reflecting on the impact of her faith, she explains, “I’m very rooted in my beliefs. I’m very grounded in the principles of my beliefs. So, I’m also guided by that to almost not allow the opportunity that God has brought before me to get to my head… Because I must remember that, again, it’s not mine. It’s a gift that comes from him and just as he is a giver of gifts, he can also take away those gifts. So, all I do with that is I just kind of use it to glorify him and I use it just to thank him and remain consecrated, I guess, in my beliefs and remain true to self as much as I possibly can.”
The future looks promising for Londeka, as she’s set to take on the lead role of Thoko in Netflix’s upcoming production Umjolo, and she’ll also star in Mzansi Magic’s film Miss Fortune. With 2025 on the horizon, there’s no doubt this rising star’s journey is just beginning.
