South African comedian Mongezi “Tol A$$ Mo” Mahlangu and his wife, Mome, recently celebrated their 12th wedding anniversary in a heartfelt and reflective way. Mome shared a touching tribute on social media, expressing gratitude for their journey together and all the lessons they’ve learned along the way.
Mome’s message highlighted the strength and resilience they’ve developed through the highs and lows of marriage. “In the past week since our 12th wedding anniversary, we have been peacefully celebrating each other on this journey, going to our memorable restaurants,” she wrote, noting the joy of revisiting memories. “Our love story is my favourite on and off screen, looking back at our first plans, the achievements, the losses, the life lessons, the painful lessons—they are all a big part of our growth.”
For Mome and Tol A$$ Mo, marriage has been about embracing every phase of life together. She acknowledged the stages they’ve faced, from “the honeymoon stages” to “the character understanding, and the family stage.” Their journey has included “healing the little girl and boy in our marriage,” as they let go of childhood trauma and focused on showing up for their family, or “Tribe,” each day.
“Marriage means facing many seasons of life together,” Mome reflected. She described how each season can test one’s “character, love, emotional intelligence, loyalty, integrity,” and 6 the importance of “keeping your faith” through it all.
Despite the challenges, Mome praised Tol A$$ Mo for his strength. “You may have ridiculed yourself during your breakdown crisis, but I’m happy you saved your life,” she wrote, crediting their mutual healing journey for bringing “mental and emotional peace, stronger than I thought we were.”
To close, she shared her gratitude for their continued journey under God’s guidance: “More is yet to unfold as we remain under his throne… God’s mercy is sufficient to all of us. I love you, like fat kid loves cake.”
Accompanying her tribute, Mome posted beautiful photos from their traditional wedding and special moments shared with their children.
