Veteran actress Gcina Mkhize has received an outpouring of emotional and financial support following a viral video in which she pleaded for help after her home was sold at auction. The emotional clip, which quickly spread across social media, showed Mkhize expressing her frustration and heartbreak over losing her house after struggling to keep up with payments. She is now contesting the sale, refusing to vacate the property, and fighting to reclaim her home.

According to TshisaLIVE, the public responded to her call for help with a wave of sympathy. A BackaBuddy fundraising campaign was launched in her name, while others made direct contributions to her bank account. In total, Mkhize has received over R20,000 in donations, as well as food supplies and offers of legal assistance.

“I would like to thank each and every person who has made a donation to our BackaBuddy campaign. I would also like to thank those who have made a deposit into my personal account. All the money is making a huge difference in our lives. My children and I are eternally grateful. We are deeply humbled by your kindness,” Mkhize shared with gratitude.

Her industry peers have also rallied behind her, with some stepping in to offer financial support. “Eugene Mthethwa came and intervened. Another person from the ANC also offered to help with the investigations. Asavela Mngqithi, who I worked with in Isibaya, was one of the first to reach out and donated R2,000,” Mkhize said. Other well-known names, including Celeste Ntuli, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Muzi Mthabela, have also offered their support.

Mkhize has filed a case of intimidation, harassment, and trespassing against the new owner of her home, as she continues her legal battle to get her house back. “I want to have my house back. My children and I want to live our lives the way we used to,” she said, holding on to hope amid her struggle.
