South African rapper and Motswako hitmaker Khuli Chana is preparing to pay tribute to the late Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes at the upcoming DStv Delicious International Food & Music Festival, set to take place on September 21. This heartfelt performance will honour the legacy of AKA, who was tragically shot and killed in KwaZulu-Natal on February 10, 2023.
Widely recognised for his massive hits like Fela in Versace and All Eyes on Me, AKA left an indelible mark on the hip-hop world, both locally and globally. To celebrate his life and achievements, Khuli Chana, a close friend and collaborator of AKA, will take the stage at this year’s DStv Delicious Festival.
In an Instagram post, Khuli Chana shared his excitement for the tribute: “It is an honour to rock the @dstvdeliciousfestival stage in celebration of the life SUPA Mega @akaworldwide on 21st of September. It is gonna be EPIC!”
Accompanying the post was a video where Khuli Chana expressed his anticipation, saying, “I’ll be running, Jozi. I have been so patient. I am trying to keep my composure. I’ll be going on the super mega level.”
He encouraged fans to bring their best energy to the festival, promising a memorable performance. “Bring that best energy, best behaviour, great company,” he added.
This year’s festival is particularly special as it celebrates 30 years of Creative Freedom in South Africa. The event promises to unite people from diverse cultures and backgrounds through the power of music, art, fashion, and, of course, great food. Khuli Chana’s tribute to AKA will no doubt be one of the most anticipated performances of the event, as fans come together to honour the life of the Supa Mega.
