Former Miss South Africa contestant Chidimma Vanessa Onwe Adetshina has officially accepted an invitation to participate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024 pageant. The 23-year-old beauty queen made this announcement after withdrawing from the Miss South Africa competition amid a preliminary investigation by the Department of Home Affairs, which questioned her citizenship status.
The investigation revealed prima facie evidence suggesting that Adetshina’s mother allegedly committed identity fraud 23 years ago, casting doubt on her eligibility for the Miss South Africa pageant. Citing concerns for her and her family’s safety, Adetshina decided to step down from the competition, sharing the news with her followers on Instagram just a week ago.
Despite this setback, Adetshina’s journey in the world of pageantry continues. In a video posted on social media, she expressed her excitement and gratitude for the opportunity to compete in Miss Universe Nigeria. “I have received an invitation from the Silverbird Group, who are the organizers of the Miss Universe Nigeria pageant to particpate in the Miss Universe Nigeria 2024, and I say this with great excitement because I have decided to accept this invitation” she announced.
Adetshina acknowledged the responsibilities and expectations that come with the Miss Universe Nigeria title and expressed her eagerness to embrace this new chapter. “Thank you so much for this opportunity, and I look forward to participating in Africa’s most prestigious beauty pageant,” she added.
