An episode of the KZN-based “Podcast About Nothing” recently captivated internet users as Sne Mseleku, daughter of polygamist Musa Mseleku, shared candid insights into her family dynamics and personal struggles.
Sne, the firstborn daughter of Musa Mseleku, lost her mother at the age of 12. Following her mother’s death, Sne was raised by her grandmother before moving in with her father and his first wife, MaCele. Viewers of the family’s reality show, Uthando Nesithembu, have seen MaCele’s unwavering love and support for Sne and her daughter Thando, often even standing up to Musa for their sake.
During the podcast, Sne expressed her deep appreciation for MaCele, contrasting her warmth with the lack of affection from her father’s third and fourth wives, MaKhumalo and MaNgwabe. She highlighted MaCele’s humility and love, qualities she treasures and relies on amid the family’s complex dynamics.
Sne currently stars in another reality show, Izingane Zes’thembu, which frequently depicts her turbulent relationships with her siblings. Episodes often end in chaos, with Sne feeling unfairly treated and isolated. She voiced these concerns on the podcast, emphasising that her complaints stem from genuine disparities in how Musa treats his children. Specifically, Sne noted that her brother Mpumelelo seems to receive preferential treatment despite both siblings having children out of wedlock.
The podcast also addressed a controversial moment from Uthando Nesithembu, where Musa reprimanded Sne for neglecting her son Samkelo, who was being raised by his paternal family. Musa accused Sne of misusing her child’s government grant money for her own needs. In a moment of raw honesty, Sne admitted to her past mistakes, saying, “My father was telling the truth. I wasn’t supporting my child properly. Last year, I was just crazy. When the monthly grant came in, I would spend it all on clubbing with friends.”
Determined to change her ways, Sne revealed her commitment to better parenting. “Now I try to look after Samkelo and give him the things he needs. Last year I didn’t look after him, but now he gets his grant money.”
Sne’s revelations on the podcast delved deep into her upbringing, the trauma of losing her mother, and the resulting impact on her relationships and life choices. She acknowledged the rocky relationship she shares with her father, Musa, attributing many of her struggles to the absence of her mother during her formative years.
Through her candidness, Sne Mseleku’s interview on the Podcast About Nothing offered a poignant glimpse into the complex world of a family navigating the challenges of polygamy, personal loss, and the quest for acceptance and love.
