Molemo “Jub Jub” Maarohanye, clad in all black, appeared in Johannesburg Magistrates Court accompanied by relatives and security personnel as he petitions for eased bail terms amidst ongoing rape and attempted murder charges, this is according the to ZiMoja.
In July last year, Maarohanye surrendered his passport after being granted bail of R10,000 and was instructed to hand it over to Brixton police. Facing 13 charges including rape, indecent assault, and kidnapping, the musician and TV personality’s legal saga involves three complainants, all former partners.
During his latest court appearance, State Prosecutor Agnes Bezuidenhout reiterated completion of investigations, stating, “The investigation to this matter has been completed a long time ago.” Despite the state’s readiness to proceed, Maarohanye’s defense requested a postponement to submit representations to the Director of Public Prosecutions, this is also according to ZiMoja.
Magistrate Betty Khumalo, while remanding the matter for bail condition review on April 25th, reserved June 13th for DPP’s decision outcomes. The legal tussle continues as Maarohanye navigates the complexities of the justice system amidst mounting scrutiny.
